T20 World Cup will be held next year. The USA and West Indies are the two host countries. Cricinfo knows when this World Cup will start. Next year T20 World Cup will start on June 4. The World Cup will end on June 30 with the matches being held at 10 venues.
According to Cricinfo, an ICC delegation visited some venues in the US this week. International matches have already been held in Lauderhill, Florida. Apart from this, the tournament matches will be held in Morrisville, Dallas, New York.
Major League Cricket (MLC) is now underway in Morrisville and Dallas. Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Church Street Park in Morrisville, and Von Cortlandt Park in New York have yet to receive international venue status. As per ICC rules, it is mandatory. The ICC will take a final decision in the next few months along with West Indies Cricket Board (CWI) and USA Cricket (USAC).
Ireland, Scotland, and Papua New Guinea qualified for the World Twenty20 finals this week after playing regional qualifiers. One team from the qualifiers from the Americas region, two from Africa, and two more from Asia will play in the finals of the T20 World Cup. 12 teams have qualified for the finals before the regional qualifiers.
The 2024 edition will be different from the last two editions of the T20 World Cup. In the previous two editions, the Super Twelve was played after the first round. In next year's T20 World Cup, 20 teams will be divided into four groups in the first round. Each group will have 5 teams. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Eight. There will be two groups of four teams each in the Super Eight. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The 2024 T20 World Cup is the first of eight men's global tournaments in the ICC's 2024-2031 commercial cycle. This cycle was finalized in 2021. The ICC made the United States the co-host of the T20 World Cup with two goals in mind. The ICC sees the North American market as a potential market for the expansion of cricket. Also, ICC wants to include cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
